“Coming from out of state I was incredibly nervous for what to expect going through recruitment. Since I hadn’t met many people prior to recruitment, I really hoped to find my place where I felt that instant sense of “home” and true friendships like the ones I have from home. When I walked into Chi Omega and had my first conversation, I instantly knew it was the place for me. Not only did I feel welcomed, but I didn’t feel like I had to act a certain way or have a certain vibe, I truly felt wanted for me. As I enter my junior year, I can confidently say that decision was the best I’ve made of my college career. Meeting genuine friends who I can see myself staying close with after college has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in my life. Chi Omega is so much more than an organization. The people I have met have truly become my sense of home that I had hoped for moving away.”

“When I joined Chi O, I truly had no idea how much of an impact my Chi O family would have on my college experience. I thought joining a sorority as a sophomore would be intimidating at first, but having Julia by my side as my big made the new member process so easy and fun! We bonded quickly over the experience of rushing as sophomores, our shared coffee obsession, long walks around Lake Johnson, and Sunday church dates. Julia has been a constant source of encouragement for me, as well as someone I look up to and know I can always rely on. Our relationship is so special to me and I strive to emulate it with my own little, Ashley. Being a big to Ashley has been just as special in a different way - watching her grow as a new member, supporting her, and now getting to serve on exec together has been so rewarding and feels incredibly full circle. These girls have shaped my confidence, sense of belonging, and love for this chapter in ways that have made my experience as a Chi Omega truly unforgettable!”

Coming to NC State, I knew I wanted to find a group of girls who felt like home. Growing up with a sister, I had someone who was always there for me. Whether it was laughing or crying, she was someone I could completely be myself around and never feel judged. Starting a new chapter at college I was looking for that same friendship that my own sister gives me and I have found nothing less in Chi O. These girls make me feel seen, supported, and genuinely cared for. From sitting next to each other in class, grabbing a coffee, or simply hanging out with one another, every moment together feels real and meaningful. They’re the kind of girls who make even the boring days feel special. I’m so thankful to have found a sisterhood that truly feels like home!”

This past May I had the chance to study abroad in beautiful Seville, Spain, an experience not just shaped by Spanish culture and new experiences but by the girls I got the chance to do it all with! I went into the program with no close connections but I knew of 3 younger Chi Os that were also taking part, I never could have imagined how much they would mean to me by the end of our time together! Even though we hadn’t talked much at school it instantly felt as though I had known these girls my whole life! Their humor, light, kindness, and pure joy reminded me of my best friends and what truly connects all of us in Chi O! No matter age or PC we are all the same at heart. We spent the 3 weeks laughing, passing stories, trying all the weird foods, and just enjoying each other’s company - wishing it all would never end. I am so thankful to have gotten to deeply know these girls and the impact they have had on my experience, not only abroad, but as a Chi O. I am so excited to continue our tradition of nightly treats and debriefs of our days when we are all back in Raleigh! This experience emphasized to me that I am never alone if there is a Chi O in the room because I already have a best friend there!
